Living in Obedience and Trust with God's Guidance
Chapter 1
Obedience in Everyday Life
Maor
Alright, let’s talk about obedience. Now, in the biblical sense, obedience isn’t just about following rules or ticking boxes. It’s, you know, it’s about listening to God, really listening, and then responding with trust, even when it kinda pushes us outside our comfort zone.
Maor
And if we look at the story of the Shunammite woman in 2 Kings chapter 8, we see such a powerful example of this. Here’s a woman who acted in faith—she listened to the prophet Elisha and left her home when he told her God had other plans. I mean, she didn’t know, she couldn’t have known, what would happen next.
Maor
But here’s the beautiful part—because of her obedience, God worked everything out. Seven years later, she returns and finds that not only does she get her land back, but she also receives all the income it made while she was gone. It’s just incredible, isn’t it? To think that her trust and obedience opened the door to such divine provision and restoration.
Maor
I’ve seen this in my own life, actually. I I remember a time when I had to make, oh, a really tough decision. It was one of those moments where you don’t have all the answers, but you sense God telling you to step out in faith. Long story short, I followed His lead, and, well, looking back now, I can see how it all came together in ways I couldn’t have orchestrated on my own. Honestly, it reinforced for me that when God says go, you just—you just go.
Chapter 2
Trusting God's Plan
Maor
Trusting God’s timing, it’s—it’s not always easy, is it? I mean, even when we know He’s got it all figured out, there are those moments of doubt, those seasons of waiting where we’re left wondering why things aren’t happening when we expect them to.
Maor
Take Abraham and Sarah, for example. God promised them a child, but His timing didn’t exactly align with what they had in mind. Years passed, and still, no sign of that promise. And, let’s be real, they got impatient, tried to take matters into their own hands. But in the end, it was when they surrendered to God’s plan that His promise was fulfilled.
Maor
Then there’s the Shunammite woman we spoke about earlier. What amazes me about her is her patience. She was given a prophetic word, and she followed it without hesitation or resistance. She didn’t know exactly how things would unfold, but she trusted God's timing completely. And we saw how that trust was rewarded—her story is a testament to faith in action.
Maor
So here’s something for us to think about: Are there areas in our own lives where we’re kinda gripping too tightly, where we’re trying to force our plans instead of surrendering to His? Maybe it’s a career path, a relationship, or even something as simple as a daily decision—what if we loosened our grip and let God take the lead?
Maor
One practical thing we can do right now is take some time to reflect. Write down one thing—just one—where you feel that tension, that urge to control. Pray over it, and ask God to help you trust Him fully with it. Sometimes, just taking that first step of acknowledgment can be the beginning of real peace and deeper trust in His plan.
Chapter 3
Attentiveness to Divine Guidance
Maor
You know, when I think about being attentive to God's guidance, it makes me realize how noisy life can be. I mean, there’s so much pulling at our attention—our phones, our to-do lists, the constant stream of things we've gotta keep up with. It’s just, in in that kind of chaos, it can be so easy to miss His voice.
Maor
And yet, when we look at scripture, we see how God often speaks in those quiet, unassuming moments. One story that always stands out to me is the calling of young Samuel in the book of 1 Samuel. Do you remember it? He’s there, lying down in the temple, and he hears someone call his name—Samuel, Samuel. At first, he doesn’t even realize it’s God speaking to him. Eli, his mentor, has to help him understand what’s happening.
Maor
What I love about that story is how it shows us the need to be receptive. Samuel didn’t just ignore the voice or brush it off—he responded. He listened, and then he acted when he realized it was the Lord. And that’s kinda the heart of being attentive, isn’t it? It’s not just about hearing; it’s about being ready to move when God calls.
Maor
So, how do we do this in today’s world? How how do we make space to hear Him amid all the noise? Well, one practical way is to build moments of silence and prayer into our day. It doesn’t have to be anything grand—just a few minutes here and there to quiet ourselves, to invite His presence and really listen. I find those moments of stillness can often reveal a clarity that's just, well, hard to find in the busyness of life.
Maor
Another thing we can do is ask questions in prayer. You know, simple ones like, “Lord, what are You leading me to today? What do You want me to notice?” And then be open to those little nudges, those thoughts or feelings that come up—they can be His way of guiding us.
Maor
And don’t forget to lean on scripture. So often, the direction we’re seeking, it’s already right there in His Word. The Bible is like this compass, pointing us back to His ways, His wisdom. Spending time with it helps us tune our hearts to His voice.
Maor
So, as we wrap up today’s episode, I just want to encourage you to take a step this week—one small step to create space for God’s guidance in your life. Maybe it’s setting aside a quiet moment in the morning or reading through a passage you feel drawn to. Whatever it looks like for you, trust that He’s eager to speak, to lead you. The key is to be ready, to say like Samuel did, “Speak, Lord, for your servant is listening.”
Maor
And that’s all for today. Thank you for spending this time with me. Until next time, go with His peace and walk in His light. This episode is sponsored by Created With Purpose Dot Com. Shop there for inspirational merch and help spread the good word.
